URGENT: have your say on religious freedom!

There is now less than 24 hours to lodge a submission on the Federal Government’s religious discrimination package.

Submissions MUST be lodged via email by 5.00pm AEST, Wednesday, 2 October.

To put it succinctly, the proposed bills would need to be drastically rewritten to provide anything approaching the positive protections we need for religious freedom.

A dark day: NSW abortion bill passes lower house

The NSW abortion debate has been a jarring experience.

There have been some wonderful moments, with MPs championing the most vulnerable in our community: unborn children in the womb.

There have also been some terrible moments, with comments that shocked in their callousness.

Big win for "UK's Israel Folau"

A man described as the “UK’s Israel Folau” has just had his day in court – and he won!

Christian student Felix Ngole was expelled from his social work course at Sheffield University for posting social media comments critical of homosexuality.

After fighting a four-year legal battle, the UK Court of Appeal has ruled in favour of Ngole.

High Court rules trees more special than babies

It’s a sad day for freedom of speech in Australia, with the High Court rejecting the appeal of pro-lifers Kathy Clubb and Graham Preston.

Both were arrested, in separate incidents, for breaching exclusion zone legislation prohibiting abortion-related speech within 150m of abortion clinics.

Take action against extreme abortion laws - Resources page

SA Greens MLC Tammy Franks has introduced radical abortion legislation into the SA Parliament that would allow abortion to birth, for any reason, and ban pro-life communication near abortion clinics.

Doctors and hospitals would no longer be required, and chemical abortion (e.g. RU486) would become permissible to use at home.

If short, South Australia would have the dubious honour of having the most extreme abortion laws in the country if this legislation is passed.

Over 7000 voices raised for freedom!

It’s nice to be able to share some good news in the campaign for our freedoms!

As you would recall, the Senate recently called a second inquiry into the rights of faith-based schools. While its scope may appear narrow, affecting only schools, the ramifications are huge for our broader freedoms.

Faith-based schools still in the firing line

Like clockwork, inquiries into ‘difficult’ topics are often held over the summer break.

This year is no different, with faith-based schools under assault yet again. A new inquiry (which we alerted supporters to earlier this week) closes this coming Monday, 21 January.

But before commenting on that, we have received an interesting letter – from the Prime Minister no less.
