This campaign has now concluded.

The sick and elderly in South Australia could soon face a terrible situation.

South Australian MPs are debating a bill for euthanasia and assisted suicide right now.

Introducing euthanasia and assisted suicide will forever change the relationship between doctors and their patients.

It will send a shocking message about mental health, essentially stating that some lives aren't worth living.

Be in no doubt: euthanasia is not about “turning the machine off” – it is the deliberate ending of a life.

The evidence from countries where euthanasia has been legalised is clear: once the culture of death gains a foothold, its consequences can’t be controlled.

In some European countries, this has led to euthanasia for children.

If we don’t want human life further devalued in our state, we MUST speak now.

Adelaide's Catholic Archbishop, Patrick O'Regan, recently penned a letter explaining why we must reject assisted suicide, rejecting the false slogan of “dying with dignity”.

"There is no dignity in allowing or helping someone to kill themselves," he said.

"No-one wants to see people suffer unnecessarily at any time, especially at the end of life, but the compassionate way to achieve this is through high quality, well-resourced palliative care.

"Assisted suicide undermines the fundamental principle of the equal worth of all human individuals by legally enshrining the idea that some human lives are not worth living.

"It legally enshrines the idea that these ‘lives-not-worth-living’ can be directly and intentionally ended with the aid and ‘blessing’ of the State."
