The silence surrounding the Ruddock inquiry into religious freedom has been briefly broken.

While many await the Attorney-General’s response to the inquiry’s report, Ruddock panel member Father Frank Brennan has spoken at a human rights conference in Melbourne.

His remarks will do little to reassure those who voted “No” in last year’s marriage debate, suggesting changes to the law are required, but only in the form of “tweaking”.

One of Australia’s largest Christian denominations, the Uniting Church, has amended its teaching to permit same-sex ‘marriages’.

In fact, in an alarming indication that even churches are no longer free of radical gender ideology, it refers to them as “same-gender marriages”.

As we reported earlier in 2018, the government of Washington State in the US was proposing to radically redefine its recognition of parenthood by liberalising artificial reproductive technology (ART) laws and introducing commercial surrogacy.

Sadly, the bill that passed the Washington State Legislature in March goes much further than simply redefining parenthood.

The Australian Family Coalition's print magazine, Insight, talked to children’s rights advocate Katy Faust about the implications of the new legislation.

PM says Government ‘absolutely committed’ to religious freedom

The ‘Expert Panel’ on religious freedom has now handed its much-anticipated report to the Federal Government.

And although the panel’s recommendations are being kept under wraps for now, the initial response from senior Cabinet members has been quite encouraging – and reflect the spirit of our Declaration of Religious Freedom.
